Presentation

Micro Factory is a 2,500 m2 shared manufacturing workshop revolving around participation and sharing. It’s been going for over 10 years, and was registered as a non-profit association (ASBL) in 2019.

The structure provides workshops and production machinery for artisans and makers, comprising a community of over 100 members who spend some of their time taking part in keeping the workshop operational.

Micro Factory therefore plays a clear role in the sharing economy. And, as 75% of its equipment comes from retrofitting machines that are already in operation, it also plays a part in resource recovery.

Products and Services

Micro Factory has several themed workshops. Each workshop has its own shared spaces and machines, as well as areas that can be reserved for exclusive use.

–             Wood Workshop

–             Metal Workshop, for cutting, bending, and assembling various metals

–             Digital Manufacturing Workshop, for prototyping and production

–             Screen Printing Workshop, for textile, paper, and wood printing

–             Textile Workshop, a small fleet of machines for working with thread, to be developed

Other areas are also available for exclusive use. They are equipped with storage racks, cupboards, and shelves.

Expertise

Micro Factory has established a framework for sharing space, tools, and knowledge, and for creating a genuine production ecosystem. Over the years, it has accumulated solid experience in managing this type of activity. The structure’s ASBL voluntary association status means it can share its various tools of production, and it’s brought to life by a hundred or so craftspeople that are organised in various circles.
