Sonian Wood Coop is a cooperative society established in 2020. Its mission is the local valorisation of wood from the Sonian Forest. From the acquisition of wood to the realisation of tailor-made projects, the cooperative partners with various stakeholders in the value chain and ensures a sustainable local transformation into high-quality products.
Products and Services
Sonian Wood Coop is a workshop for the production of custom-made solid wood furniture for individuals and B2B clients. The cooperative handles every stage, from “tree to table”, to ensure it perfectly meets its clients’ preferences. The objects are designed in collaboration with users, as well as with professionals in design and interior architecture.
Seeking the best possible use for local wood, Sonian Wood Coop modernised a traditional product by marketing a solid beech wood flooring with a unique aesthetic.
Expertise
Sonian Wood Coop has pioneered a new sector related to the use of local wood. Through its actions in the forestry and production sector, it is paving the way towards a reversal of the trend for exports, preferring local (collected less than 35km from the Grand-Place in Brussels), sustainable (responsibly managed and FSC-certified State forest) and circular (reversible installation and offer of recovery at end-of-life) production. In doing so, it contributes to carbon capture and the creation of a more local, innovative and sustainable wood sector.
