Presentation

Laurent Marien, who has been working as an optician and optometrist for many years, considers the environmental impact of every aspect of the glasses he produces and sells. He also offers several brands of environmentally responsible glasses.

In 2024, he created his company to launch an ambitious relocation project for the glasses industry in Brussels. His aim was to produce various ranges of glasses locally, taking an approach in line with the circular economy.

These glasses are sold directly in his shop, or to other opticians or shops specialising in sustainable products.

Products and services

Seed produces and sells custom prescription glasses, reading glasses and sunglasses.

These glasses are designed and manufactured using materials with a low environmental impact : organically sourced materials (local beech wood from the Sonian Forest, bioplastics from France), 80% recycled steel from Germany (screws, hinges) and plastic that is 100% recycled in Brussels.

Through skillful design and production, Seed provides glasses with more robust features (thickness, curvature), extending the lifespan of their products.

They also produce standard parts that can easily be interchanged if broken, and maintained indefinitely even if the product is removed from the collection. The products are therefore easy to repair, and recycle at the end of their life, as the parts can be disassembled and separated into their source materials.

Seed offers free eye tests, as well as a repair service, wherever your glasses are from.

Expertise

Seed has the technical and aesthetic workmanship necessary for designing and producing pairs of glasses that have a limited impact on the environment throughout their life cycle. This expertise, built up over many years, means they can confidently grasp the market.

Their mastery of both artisanal and local production means they can easily adapt to demand, giving them a clear competitive edge.
