Presentation
Savonnerie Aster is run by an artisan who makes cold-processed bar soaps as well as liquid soaps. What sets it apart is that it uses only ingredients that aren’t sourced from the other side of the world, and most of them are organic.
Products & Services
“Savon d’où” is the soap brand developed by Savonnerie Aster. It includes the following products :
Cold-processed solid soaps :
These are made through cold saponification, a reaction between a fat, an alkali, and water. Cold saponification produces soap and glycerin and is said to be “superfatted,” with a gentler effect on the skin (protecting the lipid barrier).
These soaps can be made exclusively from plant-based fats sourced from organic farming, or from a combination of organic plant-based and animal-based fats (end of life resources). They are made with sodium lactate, a bio-based product derived from the fermentation of sugars, which adds a moisturizing effect.
The soaps are scented or infused with essential oils. Soaps with bergamot, lavender, rosemary, and more…
The production of these soaps generates no waste or water loss and consumes no energy.
Liquid soaps :
These are made exclusively from oils, potash, and water. They are, therefore, true soaps. They are produced using a hot process, and the production time is longer.
The line includes liquid soaps scented with orange, lemon zest, lavender, and more.
Other items :
The soap shop offers group soap-making workshops as well as waste-reducing accessories that complement its line of soaps, soap dishes, and soap savers.
Expertise
Savonnerie Aster has developed extensive expertise in soap formulation and the art of cold-process soap making using local ingredients such as hemp oil, sweet almond oil, and grapeseed oil—all of which come from countries bordering Belgium or, at the very least, from other European countries.
