Presentation
Oxfam-Solidarity has been a major player in the social economy in Belgium and many other countries for over 40 years. The organisation fights against inequality to end poverty and injustice.
Every year, Oxfam-Solidarity collects, sorts, and revalues thousands of items for its solidarity projects worldwide. Over 1,000 volunteers, people in professional integration and employees work together to give a second life to textile and IT items, books and trinkets.
Products & Services
Oxfam Solidarity is a member of the cluster for its sorting, repair, and upcycling activities. Here is an overview:
Computing
Oxfam collects, tests, and repairs thousands of computers, both laptops and desktops, and offers them at attractive prices with a one-year warranty. The after-sales service is provided by Oxfam’s specialised teams in one of the ten shops in the Walloon-Brussels Federation.
Oxfam therefore equips schools, associations and SMEs with powerful computers at reasonable prices.
IMPACT Furniture
IMPACT Furniture acquires, refurbishes, upcycles, and resells quality office furniture for professionals who want to have a positive social and environmental impact.
With this project, Oxfam develops a range of upcycled user-friendly furniture, using recycled materials from old offices (such as multi-ply panels). New items such as sorting bins, soundproof dividers or storage bins are created. The materials are also reused in the fitting out of office or shop spaces.
Textile
Oxfam Solidarity sorts textiles that consumers no longer want. These textiles are sorted into various categories and some of them are sold in shops.
Expertise
Over the last few decades, Oxfam has given a new life to collected, recycled, and resold objects, ensuring they do not end up in landfills while avoiding unnecessary production.
