Presentation
L’Ouvroir is a supported employment enterprise founded in 1927, where 31 workers with disabilities are involved in projects focused on the reuse and transformation of materials. The company’s commitment to the circular economy is evident in the choice of projects and the revaluation of materials within their workshop.
Products & Services
L’Ouvroir offers a wide range of services to businesses. Depending on the product to be manufactured and its specifications, they assist their clients in developing a manufacturing process and integrating workers to ensure the qualitative production of their goods.
Their services are diverse, ranging from the creation of items from recycled textiles (pencil cases, bicycle accessories, cushions, etc.) to the binding of old books, bulk mailing envelope assembly, the crafting of wooden objects, and the production of custom notebooks with their clients’ logos.
The company operates primarily on a custom-order basis, serving both private companies and public organizations such as STIB, the European Commission, and the Brussels-Capital Region.
Expertise
L’Ouvroir is fully engaged in the circular economy by transforming various materials, such as textiles, paper, and wood. Drawing on its experience in revaluing materials destined for disposal, it has acquired notable expertise in this field.
For the most complex projects, prototypes are developed with input from external designers and engineers. Additionally, during the product design phase, consideration is given to the transition to large-scale production while keeping environmental impact in mind.
