Presentation
Founded in 2024, Circular Timber aims to promote and facilitate the circularity of wood in the construction sector, particularly through in-depth work on Cross Laminated Timber (CLT). Through its activities, the company enables the reuse of CLT offcuts from construction by redirecting them to players such as designers, carpenters, manufacturers and contractors. Circular Timber is seeking to maximise the environmental benefits of CLT, a material that is both sustainable and high-performance, while also promoting sustainable wood management.
Products and Services
CLT, made from spruce panels glued together in cross-layers, is particularly suited to structures such as floors and walls. However, its use produces a large volume of unused offcuts. Circular Timber focuses on recovering, preparing and processing these offcuts so they can be reused in different projects. This approach improves wood circularity by increasing CLT’s applications beyond construction, including joinery and furniture design.
At the same time, Circular Timber is planning to create a catalogue of standardised recycled CLT products and launch a ‘Circular CLT’ label. This label will enable CLT re-use initiatives to be recognised and certified, guaranteeing traceability and quality throughout the value chain, from construction to furniture.
Expertise
With significant expertise in structural engineering and wood recovery, Circular Timber supports its partners in the design of circular projects, offering solutions ranging from structural consultancy to furniture design. Thanks to the “Circular CLT” label, the company also encourages circular initiatives at an international level by organising a network of players committed to CLT recycling. With an approach based on collaboration and the pooling of resources, Circular Timber is dedicated to promoting the reuse of wood, thus strengthening sustainability in the construction and joinery sectors.
