Presentation
Bel Albatros specialises in the compression and redesign of industrial HDPE and LDPE plastic waste to transform it into panels for a range of projects, particularly in architecture and design. The plastic is collected in collaboration with Bruxelles Propreté and various Belgian industries. The company processes 70% of existing plastic types, offering a recycling solution for LDPE waste used in short-cycle flexible packaging, which was previously incinerated at the end of its life cycle. The collected waste is sorted by plastic family and colour, then shredded into flakes. These flakes are heated and compressed to make a panel, without the addition of additives, making the panels 100% recyclable and composed of 100% waste.
Products & Services
Bel Albatros offers panels in various sizes and colours:
- Dimensions: 270 x 110 cm or 585 x 117 cm
- Thicknesses: 1, 2, and 3 cm
- Various finishes available on request, such as solid colours, marbled, speckled, etc.
Different types of plastics are also used, each with its own properties and specific uses:
- HDPE (white or black): rigid, durable, dense, and non-brittle base
- LDPE: flexible, deformable, and robust base; suitable for technical applications such as veneers and reliefs.
All panels share common characteristics: they are rot-resistant and resistant to UV, water, and acid. Additionally, they are polishable, heat sealable, sawable, and machinable using various methods such as thermoforming, CNC, router, cutter, and water jet.
Expertise
Bel Albatros has expertise in plastic recycling and has full control over the product cycle. The machines and tools used at each stage of plate production have been extensively customised, demonstrating cutting-edge expertise in industrial engineering. Its multidisciplinary team supports clients in designing objects using plastic plates while providing technical support in working with this material.
